New York - Two apartment raids net $10M cocaine stash and arsenal

Raids at two apartments on the Brooklyn-Queens border led cops to a $10 million stash of cocaine and a small arsenal, police said Tuesday.

The raid - prompted by a drug deal in broad daylight - netted almost 80 pounds of coke worth about $10million, an AK-47 rifle, two Uzi submachine guns and five handguns.

Narcotics officers spotted a drug buy outside a Ridgewood, Queens, apartment Monday afternoon, cops said. A search turned up drugs, scales and clues leading to a house in Bushwick, Brooklyn, where officers found hidden weapons and ammo.

"It's very rare to have a seizure of this size in these kinds of neighborhoods," said Special Narcotics Prosecutor Bridget Brennan of the quiet residential blocks.

Arrested were Carlos Rivera, 38, Ray Augirre, 35, and Gabriel Valderrama, 32, all of Queens, and suspected customer Pedro Santana, 39, of Staten Island. The landlord of the Ridgewood building expressed surprise at the arrests. "We never saw anybody coming in or out," he said.
