New York - Cops catch murder suspect smoking while dad, brother dead inside house

Police didn't have to go far to spot a murder suspect in Long Island.

He was standing outside an Elmont home, puffing on a cigarette as his brother and father lay dead inside.

Dario Ormejuste, 24, was arrested Thursday for killing his brother, Guerby Ormejuste - a Rikers Island correction officer - and their 65-year-old father, Bob.

The suspect was charged with two counts of murder and awaiting arraignment at criminal court in Hempstead.

Nassau County police said that Rose Ormejuste, the suspect's mom and Bob Ormejuste's wife, was missing. They were also searching for Guerby Ormejuste's gray 1998 Lexus ES 300.

Its New York license plate number is CEF8130.

Cops made the grisly discovery after Guerby Ormejuste, 30, mysteriously missed work at the Eric M. Taylor Center on Rikers Island for two days. He was found in the home's kitchen about 4:20 a.m.

His father's body was discovered a short time later in the basement.

The motive in the crime was unclear.

Guerby Ormejuste, who joined the department in March 2007, was accused this spring of allowing a female officer to peek into the cell of celebrity inmate/rap star Lil Wayne, sources said.
