Small Earthquake Rattles NY, NJ
New York - Witnesses across the region reportedly felt a small earthquake rattle the ground in parts of New York and New Jersey.
People from Hackensack to Albany have called into the CBS 2 HD Newsroom saying they felt the ground shake in their area.
In New York City, the quake was felt by residents in Brooklyn.
None of the callers reported any injuries.
Federal officials say the quake was centered just north of Ottawa, with a reported magnitute of 5.5 at its epicenter.
People from Buffalo to Albany and north to Massena on the St. Lawrence River say pets were startled and plates rattled at about 1:45 p.m. Wednesday.
David French, 53-year-old state worker from Cicero, says he was at his computer inside his home outside Syracuse when he felt his chair shake.
The quake prompted several calls to state police in Ray Brook in the Adirondacks.
