Store Builds World's Largest Snow Cone

A shaved ice company built the world's largest snow cone in Lubbock, Texas.

The massive snow cone weighed-in at more than 25,000 pounds and stood taller than a house, The Lubbock Avalanche-Journal reported.

The yellow birthday-cake flavored snow cone hopes to break the Guinness World Record. Constructed by Bahama Buck's, the promotion was done to benefit a charity while serving as a celebration for the franchise's 20th birthday.

At a whopping 25,095 pounds, the snow cone will easily surpass the size of the previous record-holder, a 4,600-pound snow cone make ten years ago by Mammoth Mountain Ski Resort in California.

Bahama Buck owner Blake Buchanan told the Avalanche-Journal that the goal was to shatter the previous record, not just just break it.

"If you're going to do something, do it right," he said."Do it once so you don't have to do it again."

Bahama Buck CFO Eric Lee told AOL News that the hardest part about setting the record came when windy conditions limited how high the ice could stick out of the giant cup.

"We wanted to pack the ice above the cup, but the winds came and blew it around as we were packing it on," he said. "It was windier than we expected so we settled for 5 feet above the rim."

Guinness has yet to verify the size of the snow cone, which was completed last week. The effort raised more than $12,000 for charities that provide local children with safe housing.
