George Washington Chicken McNugget Going for Over $5,000 on eBay

What do a Chicken McNugget and George Washington have in common?

The same squishy profile, according to a Nebraska woman who has put her three-year-old George Washington Chicken McNugget on eBay, where it has currently drawn a high bid of $5,100.

Yes, you read that right. A tiny, fried piece of fast-food chicken that may or may not look like the country's first president, has rung up 57 bids so far, with five days left in the auction.

The McNugget seller is Rebekah Speight of Dakota City, who explains on the eBay site that she picked it up approximately three years ago when she took her children to McDonalds and one particular nugget in their order leapt out at her.

"Sure enough," she wrote, "it was in the likeness of President George Washington."

So she stored it in the freezer, where the presidential piece of poultry remained until she decided to auction it off to raise money for a church camp.

As to whether it actually looks like Washington, well that's in the eye of the beholder, but so far no one appears to have cried fowl – perhaps because Speight has helpfully labeled the crinkly indentations for eye, nose, chin, hair and ruffled shirt.

In fact, the listing has even drawn its own parody on eBay: a crumpled dollar bill, featuring Washington's face, in the shape of a nugget.

It's going for $2.05 after three bids.
