Jahmell Crockam's brother jailed; cops say he threatened to shoot up Lakewood High School
Lakewood, N.J. - The brother of the man standing trial for the murder of township police officer Christopher Matlosz is behind bars after allegedly making threats to shoot up the high school if his brother is convicted, police said.
Raheem M. Montgomery, 20, of Edgewood Court, the brother of Jahmell Crockam who is currently on trial in Ocean County for the shooting murder last year of Lakewood Police Officer Christopher Matlosz, allegedly made statements that he would go on a shooting rampage at Lakewood High School if his brother was convicted of the murder, according to Detective Capt. Paul Daly.
A school resource officer was tipped off by a student about the gun threats prompting police to secure a warrant for his arrest on Saturday. When police arrived at the home, Montgomery was taken into custody without incident and a 9mm Stallard Arms handgun was found in his possession, Daly said.
About a month before Matlosz was gunned down at point-blank range on Jan. 14, 2011, Montgomery was shot twice on the afternoon of Dec. 13 while inside a van in the parking lot of the Plaza II Apartments on John Street in the township. He was taken to Kimball Medical Center where he was treated and released the same day for the gunshot wounds.
Montgomery is charged with making terroristic threats and weapons offenses and is currently being held in the Ocean County Jail , Toms River, on $250,000 full-cash-only bail as set by state Superior Court Judge Stephanie M. Wauters.
