Driver ticketed after driving into boat basin

A Long Island driver ended up wet and ticketed but alive after accidentally driving into the Milburn Boat Basin in Baldwin.

Nassau County Police say that Reyna Castillo, 32, of Roosevelt drove a 1992, Toyota, Camry into approximately four to five feet of water at about 8:23 p.m. on Sunday.

Castillo and a 31 year old male passenger were able to climb out of the vehicle and were then assisted by the Baldwin Fire Department who responded to the scene with approximately one dozen firefighters.

Castillo apparently accelerated the vehicle into the canal by accident. The Nassau County Police marine Bureau helped remove the car from the water.

Police cited Castillo was cited for a traffic violation and a violation of the Nassau County Parks Ordinance.
