Israel - Air Conditioner Exchange Program to Save Energy

In an effort to save energy, the Energy and Water Ministry will, beginning Sunday, begin a program to exchange old, energy inefficient air conditioners with new ones that save energy. Some 10,000 air conditioners are expected to be exchanged as part of the effort, saving a total of 17 million kilowatt-hours per year.

The government, along with the Tornado air conditioner company, will be subsidizing the project. Eligible participants will be able to save as much as 40% in costs on a new air conditioner.
