L.I. Drivers Urged To Pay Traffic Fines Ahead Of Boot And Tow Program

Consider this a warning.

Nassau County drivers who think they’ve managed to avoid paying certain tickets are about to get a rude awakening.

Starting next Monday, the county will begin booting or towing away vehicles to collect unpaid fines from scofflaws with three or more outstanding parking and red light camera tickets.

The movement is part of an effort by the cash-strapped county to recover much-needed revenue.

The county estimates it is owed some $49 million in unpaid traffic tickets.
