N.Y. - Call For Officers To Undergo Psychological Evaluations
Assemblyman Eric Stevenson (D-NY) and community leaders are calling for a legislation that requires police officers to undergo periodic psychological evaluations.
Stevenson gave his support for the new legislation that would require officers who patrol the streets to get a psychological evaluation every three years.
The assemblyman said the stress of the job could cause some officers to no longer be fit to serve the community.
Stevenson, who held a press conference at Union Grove Baptist Church in the Bronx, highlighted several cases - including the Ramarley Graham shooting as one example.
Stevenson is calling on the state assembly to pass the legislation immediately.
