Christie says he'll think about 2016 if Obama wins this time
Chris Christie, an active Mitt Romney surrogate who's
been rumored to be a dark-horse contender for VP and was wooed by a number of
major donors and GOP figures to run for president this time around, is open to
it in four years if the GOP ticket loses, per the AP:
"The first-term GOP governor says he hopes
Republican Mitt Romney beats President Obama in November and seeks re-election
in 2016. But if the presidency is open, Christie says he'll "certainly
think about it."
Christie, who rebuffed an opportunity to enter the
contest for the GOP nomination this year, was asked Wednesday at a boardwalk
stop in Ocean City about running for the top spot in the next election.
He said: "If there's an opportunity for me to serve
in another capacity and I think I have something to add to the mix, I don't
think I'd back away from it.""
