Con Ed, Union Strike Deal to End 3-Week Lockout

Gov. Cuomo brokered a agreement between striking Con Edison workers and the utility, ending the nearly monthlong labor dispute that locked out 8,000 workers.

The deal came just hours after Cuomo got the bickering sides to agree to allow 3,000 of the union members back to work for the duration of the storm.

Cuomo called the members of Utility Workers Union of America Local 1-2 and Con Edison to his East Side office this morning to make sure there were enough workers for this afternoon's expected storm.

But Cuomo used the availability of both sides to keep talks going, and the temporary storm deal paved the way to an overall contract agreement.
