Israelis Lead in App Usage
A report by mobile marketing company Velti plc (Nasdaq:
VELT) found that, as of June, Israeli smartphone users were number one in the
world in the use of apps, using them for an average of 80 minutes a day, Globes
news reported.
Sweden is in second place, with Swedes using apps for an
average of 76 minutes a day, followed by Singapore, with an average of 75
minutes a day. The US is in eighth place, with Americans using apps for an
average of 38 minutes a day.
Velti said that in the battle for smartphone operating
system leadership, Apple Inc. (Nasdaq: AAPL) is widening the gap over Google
Inc's (Nasdaq: GOOG) Android in user exposure to advertisements 62% to 38%,
respectively. Use of sports apps rose by 76% and use of games apps rose by 90%.
Since May, the effective cost per mille (eCPM) also rose, especially for sports
apps ($0.76) and games ($0.90).
