New Taxi Fares Set To Click In Early September

If you plan on taking a taxi over Labor Day weekend - enjoy it - because your next ride will likely cost you more.
The Taxi and Limousine Commission has given yellow cab drivers the go ahead to begin charging higher rates as early as September 4.

The rate hike approved earlier this month will cost passengers 50 cents for each click of the meter, up from 40.

The price of a ride between Manhattan and Kennedy Airport will rise $7, bringing the total charge to $52.

Before charging the higher rates the TLC says drivers must have their meters recalibrated and they have to put on decals with a new logo.
