Man Accused of Biting Security Guard During Theft From White Plains Macy's

White Plains, N.Y. - An Elmsford man was arrested at Macy’s after police said he took a bite out of crime prevention when he was caught stealing wallets and neckties worth a total of $547.

Crystal Ewing, 51, of 166 N. Lawn Ave., was charged with misdemeanor counts of petty larceny and third-degree assault shortly before 6 p.m. Friday after police said he bit a store security guard on the arm when the guard confronted him.

Police said Ewing was seen stealing six wallets and five ties and was leaving the store when the guard stopped him. A scuffle followed, during which Ewing’s alleged bite broke the skin on the guard’s right forearm.

The 25-year-old guard was taken to White Plains Hospital, where he was treated and released.
