Report: Outlet Mall Being Floated Along Staten Island Waterfront

City bargain hunters could be just a ferry ride away from a new outlet mall if plans to redevelop the Staten Island waterfront go through.

According to the Wall Street Journal, the mall would be built near the St. George Ferry Terminal.

It's the same area being considered for what would be the world's tallest observation wheel.

Under the plan, parking lots on either side of Richmond County Bank Ballpark would be replaced with the mall and the wheel.

The proposals are part of the city's effort to bring more shopping and tourist dollars to Staten Island.

But retail experts tell the Journal developers could find it hard to attract popular stores for the mall.
