Israel - Two killed in Rishon Lezion underworld car bombing
Two people were killed in a car bombing in central Rishon
Lezion on Thursday morning, in what police are saying is most likely a criminal
incident.
It is still unclear if the two men were killed in an
intentional hit, or if they were transporting a bomb that went off prematurely,
what police typically refer to as "a work accident".
The bombing took place on Yekinton Street near the Rishon
Lezion Magistrate's Court, where the Mazda was parked on the side of the road
next to residential buildings.
Over the past two years there has been an ongoing gang
war between the Abergil family and its rivals over control of criminal
enterprises in the city, which has claimed the lives as several victims.
The hit is the latest of several car bombings in the Tel
Aviv area in the past couple months, including one earlier this month in which
brothers Shaul and Yaniv Peretz were wounded in south Tel Aviv’s Tel Kabir
neighborhood.
