Suspect Caught In Burning Of Jewish Religious Items In Brooklyn

Police say the man suspected of burning several Jewish symbols in Brooklyn has been taken into custody.
Authorities had been looking for Rubin Ublies.

The 35-year-old has dozens of past arrests for crimes including robbery, drug possession, weapons possession and grand larceny.

Police say Ublies is the man seen in surveillance pictures taken inside a Clymer Street building where a mezuzah was found burned Tuesday.

A mezuzah is a small portion of the Torah in a protective case, hung on the door posts of Jewish homes.

Eleven others were burned in a building a block away on Taylor Street Monday, which was Holocaust Remembrance Day.
