Island that borders Gulf of Mexico at mouth of Homosassa River to be auctioned online

HOMOSASSA, Fla. - Imagine owning your own island right here in the Bay area.

How cool would that be, right? Well, now is your chance because one is for sale and we're not talking millions of dollars.

You can only get there by boat and it sits right at the mouth of the Homosassa River in Citrus County.

The view through the front windows of the Gulf of Mexico is amazing.

Mike Johns has been taking care of the property for the past few years.

"It has beautiful sunsets," Johns said. "Watch the wildlife swim around, fly around. It's great."

The island will go up for auction online later this month. The starting bid is $90,000.

The island has a building on it which used to be a restaurant, three docks, a septic system, phone and electric. There is also deep water access to the Gulf and more.

"You know the only thing we don't have is TV," Johns said.
