Pawel Bromson grew up in Poland where he and his skinhead friends sometimes roamed the streets of Warsaw, terrorizing Jewish, Arab and black children. They hurled insults at staff members, telling them “the genocide should have been bigger.” Bromson and his peers were suspicious of outsiders and disliked Jews, whom they blamed for Poland’s economic troubles under the Communist regime.

Convicted firebomber of a Jewish school poses serious problem for Correctional Service Canada

Montreal - A man serving a 7-year prison term for hate crimes, including the firebombing of a Jewish school for children, will remain behind bars for his entire sentence as he continues to pose a serious problem for Correctional Service Canada. Omar Bulphred, 26, has only four months remaining on the sentence he received in 2009 after he pleaded guilty to uttering threats, setting a fire at the Skver-Toldos Orthodox Jewish Boys School in Outremont, in September 2006, and trying to set fire to propane tanks he placed near the Snowdon YM-YWHA in April 2007.

Montreal auctioneer gives 'fossilized remains' of Holocaust victims to Jewish congregation

A Montreal auctioneer has decided not to seek bids for what he believes are the fossilized human remains of Holocaust victims of the Nazi death camp of Treblinka where thousands were executed and burned. After denunciations following revelations in The Gazette, Patrick Blaizel handed the remains to a Jewish congregation for proper burial. Blaizel, owner of the Montreal Auction House on St. Laurent Blvd., said he never intended to sell the objects when he put them up for bids on liveauctioneers.com – he wanted to find the best spot for them while raising awareness of Holocaust issues.

Auction of purported Nazi death camp remains nixed

A Montreal auctioneer has cancelled a plan to auction off what he says are human remains from a Nazi death camp. A 26-year veteran of the auction business, Patrick Blaizel, 60, put the two objects up for bid on liveauctioneers.com. At the time, Mr. Blaizel promised all proceeds would go to a Holocaust memorial.

Quebec wants Montreal yeshiva closed

Quebec's education ministry has obtained a court injunction to shut down a private Jewish school in Montreal for not maintaining scholastic standards. The Académie Yeshiva Toras Moshe has offered an extensive religious education to Jewish boys in Montreal's tony Outremont neighbourhood for half a century.

Crimes against Jews increase in Montreal
