Subway Worker Saves 3 People On Tracks At Delancey Street Station

A New York City subway worker was being hailed as a hero Monday for preventing a train from hitting a man who’d had a seizure and two other people who were trying to help him. Subway operator Danny Hay was on his way to work Sunday morning when he saw a young man on the tracks at the Delancey Street station in Manhattan.

FDNY firefighter honored in Washington

A New York City firefighter is among 18 honored with the Medal of Valor by Vice President Joe Biden. Eighteen police officers, firefighters and public safety officers received the nation's highest honor for public safety officers, which recognizes those who risk their own safety to save or protect others. FDNY Firefighter Peter Demontreux received the honor for his efforts responding to a fire on August 30, 2010.

Hero Postal Worker Rescues Elderly Woman Trapped in Bathroom for 2 Days

A veteran U.S. letter carrier is being credited with rescuing an elderly woman who was trapped in her Long Island home for two days. The unidentified woman, 87, fell in her bathroom Saturday and became wedged between her tub and toilet, unable to get up, according to Garden City police. She remained there until Monday, when the postman who had been delivering her mail for decades discovered something was amiss.
