Google may challenge Amazon with delivery plan
Google Inc. is reportedly talking to retailers about setting up a 1-day delivery service for online purchases that is seen as a potential challenge to Amazon.com Inc.
The Wall Street Journal cites unnamed sources in a report that says the search giant would charge a small fee for the delivery.
Among the retailers that Google has talked to are reportedly Macy's, The Gap and OfficeMax.
Amazon has seen a 42 percent jump in the first nine months of this year after introducing Amazon Prime, a $79-a-year service that offers speedy shipping at no additional charge as well as video rentals.
Google's plan doesn't include sales directly to consumers, but builds a shipping service onto its product search feature.
