Fugitive Caught Posing With Obama Waxwork
An Italian fugitive was caught after years on the run when he posted a photo on Facebook showing himself posing with a wax model of US President Barack Obama, the ANSA news agency reported.
Michele Grasso, a 27 year old from Sicily, disappeared in 2008 to escape a conviction for drug dealing. He ended up in London, where he found work in an Italian restaurant.
But a trip to the famous Madame Tussauds wax museum in the British capital proved his undoing, after he posted online a photo of himself standing next to a grinning model of Obama.
Italian police, who monitored his Facebook account, immediately suspected he was in London.
Another photo showed him working as a waiter at a restaurant, which was enough to set the wheels in motion to track him down.
Italian cops contacted their British counterparts, who found Grasso in a London suburb. The report did not say when the arrest and subsequent deportation took place.
Grasso was arrested upon arrival in the Italian capital Rome, and transferred to prison to start his five-year sentence.
