New York - B-17 To Drop Flowers For CIA Killed In Afghanistan

New York - Historic aircraft will escort a B-17 bomber as it drops flowers over the Statue of Liberty in a public Memorial Day tribute to seven CIA employees killed in Afghanistan.

A World War II fighter trainer from the American Airpower Museum on Long Island is scheduled to escort the bomber as it drops flowers in New York Harbor on Monday afternoon.

Meanwhile, the CIA's director of national clandestine service, Michael J. Sulick, is expected to attend a memorial service at the Farmingdale museum.

The tribute honors seven employees killed Dec. 30 by a suicide bomber at a CIA base in Afghanistan's Khost province.

The American Air Power Museum is located at 1230 New Highway in Farmingdale.

Minor earthquake rattles Los Angeles

Seismologists say a mild earthquake widely felt throughout Southern California was centered along the coast west of downtown Los Angeles. The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-3.8 quake struck at 3:18 a.m. Wednesday. The epicenter was 2 miles east-southeast of Marina del Rey near Culver City and Inglewood.
